California United States Senator Dianne Feinstein has died at age 90, after months of declining health.

A member of the Democratic Party, Feinstein was first elected to the US Senate in 1992 after defeating California State Controller Gray Davis during a special election to fill a vacant seat.

For most of her time serving in the Senate, Dianne was one of the richest active members of Congress. She spent much of her final years in public office as the oldest sitting U.S. Senator.

She had a daughter named Katherine Anne Feinstein who is a former San Francisco County Superior Court Judge.

Dianne shared Katherine with her ex-husband, Jack Berman, whom she married for three years, from 1956 to 1959.

Senator Dianne was also a grandmother and had one grandkid.

Katherine Anne Feinstein, who has a background in the US legal justice system, is the daughter and only child of late Senate Dianne Feinstein and lawyer Jack Berman. Her grandparents are Leon Goldman and Betty Goldman.

She was born on July 31, 1957, in San Francisco, California, United States.

She had her education at the UC Law San Francisco and the University of California, Berkeley.

By profession, Katherine Feinstein, 66, is an American attorney, public official, and former judge who currently serves as President of the San Francisco Fire Commission.

Katherine previously served as Presiding Judge of the San Francisco Superior Court from 2010 to 2012 and as a Superior Court judge from 2000 to 2012.

Despite seemingly following in her mother’s footsteps, Katherine said in a previous interview that she wouldn’t consider running for office.

“I don’t think campaigns always bring out the best in people,” Katherine told NBC.

While Katherine did not want to become a public citizen, she did share that she was close with her mother during the interview, adding that enjoyed doing “mundane tasks” together.

Regarding her formative years as Feinstein’s daughter, Katherine confessed: “As a teenager, I was the most resentful of my mother not being like every other mother that I knew at that time.

“As time has gone on, I think we have gotten closer and closer.”

Meanwhile, her mother added: “I think something gives and I think something gives all of the time.

“The key is…can your spouse take it? Can your children handle it? And do you feel that you are giving enough with what you can give?

“You cannot give everything and work 12-14 hours a day, virtually every day.”

Who is Katherine’s husband, Rick Mariano?

Katherine’s husband is Rick Mariano, a San Francisco-based realtor and commercial estate broker.

Previously, Rick worked at Blum Capital; an equity investment management firm owned by Katherine’s late stepfather Richard Blum.

Katherine and Rick have one child together; a daughter named Eileen Feinstein Mariano.

Eileen has followed her mother and grandmother into politics, she manages state and federal affairs for London Breed; the 45th mayor of San Francisco.

Senator Dianne Feinstein had an impressive career in politics that spanned decades

A member of the Democratic Party, Feinstein was first elected to the US Senate in 1992 after defeating California State Controller Gray Davis during a special election to fill a vacant seat.

The senator began her political career in 1969 when she was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

During her post on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, she unsuccessfully ran twice for mayor of the city.

Eventually, she was elected president of the Board of Supervisors in 1978.

Following the assassination of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk in November 1978, Feinstein became acting mayor while serving as president of the Board of Supervisors.

She was officially inaugurated as the first female mayor of San Francisco in December 1978.

Among her first acts as mayor was to repair the renowned San Francisco cable car system.

Over the years, Feinstein became known for her advocacy of gun-control measures.

In 1994, when former President Bill Clinton signed a law to ban assault weapons, Feinstein championed it and stressed the need for more restrictions after the law expired 10 years later.

She led Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee since 2016.
